Trumpet artist, Brian Turnmire, aboutwhom President Obama has commented “sounds just like Miles Davis!”currently lives and works in Washington D.C. as a professional trumpet player in a premier military band. A sought-after international soloist, classical and jazz player, his performances can be heard everywhere from concert halls to the White House. In addition to his regular duties performing concerts around the DC metro area and ceremonies in Arlington National Cemetery, Brian has performed with many renowned artists, including John Williams, Leonard Slatkin, Roberta Flack, the original Broadway cast of Tony Award-winning show Jersey Boys, and Patti LaBelle. Most recently, Brian was a guest soloist with the Filarmonica de Queretaro as part of the International Brass Festival of Guanajuato, Mexico and also an artist in residence at the Banff Center in Banff, Canada. Prior to moving to the D.C area, Brian attended the University of Georgia studying with renowned trumpeter Fred Mills, formerly of the Canadian Brass, and was principal trumpet of the Chattanooga Symphony.
